Objectives Identify local concepts of hypertension with regard to illness experience and illness explanations,  with special interest in gender and rural-urban differencesDescribe approaches  to self management with particular reference to life style modification  
Describe help seeking behavior  leading to drug treatment 
Description We surveyed patients with hypertension in urban and rural setting using EMIC semi structured interview.
Quarterly Reports (5-10 lines) We completed the data collection among 200 respondents in urban and 170 respondents in rural areas. Currently data analysis and report preparation ongoing.
